No I'm not good in stock picking, in fact I'm struggling to understand what the hell are they(number and figure) is trying to tell me. Somehow I just can't associate it with the business transaction or whatever it is trying to associate with, thus I ditch it.

Then I look for company with strong cash flow and Micro mechanic is one that I manage to fine. I don't look at the figure, all I saw then was in one of those expert analysis form SGX state it have a strong cash flow and I brought it. After holding for more then a year, I unload about 80% of my holding with a little profit and the balance was left unattended till now. There are two more counters that I'd applied the same stategy. one of the counter my cost is standing of at 0.0273 or 6.5% of the current market price. I will off load 3/4 of my my new purchase when I gain alittle profit because balance are just profit that I do not realise and it may bring more reward then I could asked for of course the opposite (depleted profit) my be truth too. However this is not a concern because I have lock in tiny profit with all my capital in my pocket ready to reinvest or buying the same counter again.

Another gambling sessions

This time on YZJ. brought at 2.01, of course checked the chart and it suggested there are some room for upside movement of price. Quickly I monitor the time and sale of two days before I jump into it. It is a concern to buy now because the trend it not on my side and a high chance that the price is likely to go down...

OK, let push my luck, buy Q at 1.77 just day before XD (filledin the morning) . Closely monitoring it and in the morning it session ended with 1.81 or 1.82 (can't quite recalled) I was telling myself then I'm going to sell at 1.84 and will monitor it closely in the afternoon session. It was kind of relived for me to see that it was trading between 1.82 -1.83 and a large transaction on going on seller price (still I'm concern about the market might turn again me, thus I'm all ready to settle for less...)

Well, luck is on my side shortly after keying in my order it was filled. the rest is history. I read somewhere that averaging down may not be a good ideal, Without giving much though to it then, I took all of it at it face value. - "Don't catch a falling knife!" Well the author it right! Why bother to catch it, if you miss it you don't gain a bit and if you manage to catch it, you might cut yourself, why bother? Beside the gain may not be significant at all.

Now, I defer from that though and I trust that many would agreed, it depend on you objective in term of your investment time frame; whether you're a day trader or a long term investor. So did the author gives out the wrong information then. I thinks may be not, it is just that he is speaking from the day trader view that he may have not specify. OR did he may have mentioned it in the front few pages that I had missed it totally?

Somehow, I felt that it will be nice if the author could specificially remind reader that the time frame is one consideration if they are averaging down. For now, I'm much awared of my objective, thus it is not a concern whether I'm averaging down or up.

The key issue consideration is are we catching the knife for long term investment or for short term gain.

The above is not an advice, if you are looking for advice please speak to the professional.

continue to trade downward

remembered once, i asked a forumer, why did you buy and cut losses as soon as you brought it. his reasoning is not clear to me. DBS and OCDC was rated underperform and UOB rated Neutral. Target price were being lower for all three local Banks.

For many of us who is dieing for a pc of share for the bank, guess it is times to closely monitor the price movement of our three Big Banks. Of course you must do some homework, and before jumping in, have your entry price set.

Flankly, I do thinks that our property market have being holding on too long to stay above water. Is the demand is as high as expected? I don't really think so. So Why and what causes the buying spree? My best guess is people are not waiting because of fear that the price will continue to raise higher and higher. However, once this group of buyer (generally from local) are gone, the "seller", well hold on the your bady till the next up turn on those highly over price houses. hm.. guess the next down turn is on it way as the day goes by...

Oh.. Oil price will continue to increase and it is likely to be around $120 lastest by June 08. How the hell I know, I don't know, flankly, it is just that some guru mentioned abut the possibility of oil will reach that level, and I merely informing the manager the cost of running our own transportation will be going to be expensive if the guru analysis came truth. D he received the message, maybe not, or may be he is powerless against the management.

there was an article about increasing cost in the logistics done by a professor in hong kong. I was half year late when reading it, and it is about 5 to 6 years back. in the article, it mentioned about higher cost of operation in the industry, mainly due to investment in technology, automated equipments, wages increases, competitior pricing, little or no trade barrier (for new comers) and the possibility of higer oil price. Can't recalled what he had suggested, generally, combines of resources, multi-tasking, paperless operation, and automate processes, better CS and outsourcing, use of internet... etc

are we there yet...???

I was taking charge of transportation then, and outsourced it, maybe I'm ahead of time and management don't see the impact of raising cost. it was reverse back after me transferred out for a year or two. they saw the cost increases sinces 2005 $45 to $70, $80 and now >US110. There is no sign of weakening as least for short term. If we were just to consider the needs of developing country, example china, india, russia isn't it good enough to conclude that the oil price will continue its rally....said US$180.00 per barrel or maybe US$200.00.

I'm no pro, so don't marked my words, merely just guessing.

Cpl

Still monitoring on cpl, basically to recovered those losses, not much actually, but I would like to see my $ back. Overall, still profiting, but with my last purchase, it reduces those profit significantly.

Last week, decided to realised parts of the losses on this counter (my last purchase) and to load it again when it goes down. Started monitoring and guess luck is on my side, open the chart and the frist thing I saw is the counter was over brought... (though not an expert) genreally, it tells that the counter is likely to go down, now this is betting...I bet that the price will continue to trend up althrough it was largely overbrought, this is with consideration of the market news saying that the overall sentiment is returning and that the negative news have little effect on retail investor because most of the bad news have been factored into the price of most counters.

I held back my selling untill yesterday...It was sold at a high price I though, but the price continue to rallied another 9 cents when the closing bell rung.

ok loh...who can predict right? pick up my calculator and started to work on the price I should be buying. got it.

Was monitoring closely today, it crosses my mind in the morning that I shouoldn't be too worried about it due to the overbrought show on it chart, but just felt uncomfortable about not monitoring it, it went down 0.31 cents today.

Not to sobo myself, start to plot on the chart and found 3 supporting line if all support lines were to be broken I would be very happy because it means that my losses is narrow to only a couple of hundred. With my buying after it broke all supporting line, I'll be on my way to breakeven shortly and into the profitting zone.

I should do this earlier, wondering why I'm not doing it?

Sunshine

Have been mointoring this counter for two days, the trading is getting thin... . So what`s the problem? happy trading.

one year liao

since my last posting, aleady one year liao, may consider some posting if i find the time.

happy trading

China essen

This counter seems to have a inverted H & S formation.

Looking at the volume, it is suggesting that there are some selling down, but average volume is rather thin. Main points such as skills, knoweldge, guts, emotions couple with examples to highlight the important of having these fundamental and benefits for all. To me, it is quite well covered.

However, don't quite agreed with the "greed" in us. To be a full time trader, beside some basic needs plus abilities to long as well as shorting stock/ stocks with some others trading instructments. One must

- be greedy

Be greedy? hm, my view, when we buy into strength (at new high price, thinking of selling higher) some one is selling. Question is, did they think of leaving some for others? Guess this is not true, all they knew is making as much as possible, they going to squeeze us dry, if they could and personnally I don't believes they're going to leave some for us.

Therefore, be as greedy as you possibly wanted. If you greed is one cent, or even 50 cents go for it, but if the overall market said they are not giving that one or 50 cents now, don't argue and take what they're willing to give and go.

Shooting

Have been happily shooting at target since the begining of world cup, instead of monitoring the market. oops!!!

I'm either indoor or outdoor shooting... arrows... damn .... enjoying it...almost everyday, load arrow, aim, release and follow through.

I started with a 24# bow and now pulling a 28# bow. releasing about 100 arrows in an hours or two is no joke, finger, arm and shoulder is aching all over and a little on my back.

Archery? Markets is expecting a quarter percent point rise to 5.25 percent. However, Washington (reuters) reported that interest rate futures indicate a small chance of half points rasie.

On a poistive note, some analysts pointed out the Fed has ended several previous rate hike cycles with increases of that scale. But it had also highlighted that there is clear evidence of a slowing economy, and many economists believe the odds of a half point boost are slim. They are likely to focus on language use in the policy statement to express concern over inflation. If so, another hike is likely to on the card.

Okay, the expert are telling us, it is likely to be 0.25 rate hike and another on August due to concern over inflation. On the other hand, half point rate hike have a slim chance too, some analyst thinks it is good, as it may be an end to the rate hike cycle where many rate hike ended in such a scale previously.

Now what? may be @
0.25 market is expecting - so there are selling but may not be strong
0.50 market may dump, but since many rate hike ended at 0.50 increase previously, it may be good to monitor closely for some quality buying.

what will I do? My reply to them is I discourage averaging down as we do not know how low is low and that's my only reason.

What if, I cut my lost when I was wrong about the price and buy back the same number of shares at a lower price, is this another way of averaging down... I asked myself. I don't know you judge for yourself using the example below:

Buy ABC 10 lots @ 0.945 = $9482.99
Sell 10 lots @ 0.760 = $7573.47
Realised Profit and lost = -$1909.53
Buy back 10 lots @0.750 = $7526.81
Diff. +/- from buy back = $47.28
Net loss = -$1862.25
Aveage unit cost/share = $0.85049

I may need to sell when price is up slightly and buy again when it's down to further average down. The question is; It's worth the trouble? What if immediately after my selling the price start to move? That's the risk!

Kind of funny right? why not cut lost, instead of having a funny way of averaging down. Let 's put it this way it present a way for mistake correction, and for trade with a long term view.
As to cut lost - it is more for a new trade for day trading or contra.

For some, may be I speak for myself, I may not be willing to sell my lost making stock. The above present another alternative for me to recoup my losses. Frankly, once a loss making stock is sold, chances of buying it back is rather slim. I know, because I tried it; buying and selling within a price range, I stop after one round. Reason: It is a long process ....

Each to your own decision.

Happy averaging

SembMarine

There are some buy call for this counter. Well, not a bad call from my point of view, at least this stock have an "inflated" (comfirmed) order book and a clear predictable earning for all to see, any additional order will definately strengthen it, thus reasonable and it could be a defensive stock.

TA alone, it seem to me there is some selling going on for the pasted days and it is quite uniform. To put it squarely, may be some bigfish is selling or pushing the price down. The last three sessions had causes the price to trade below 100days MA. Forget it, I have myself to blame for not doing what I needs to do.

Visited a few forums and saw some posting about the uselessness of TA when the market is trending down. I'm not sure how true it is?

Read about canslim, the author highlighted that joining the stock maket without the knowledge and ability to analyze a chart is as good as a blind walking in the street without a walking stick. Tosing our chart in thrash bin.., well we might need to reconsider...

Generally, chart are loaded with information (price, volume), indicators (MA, Stochasitcs, RSI, MACD, etc). Ability to read chart pattern will assist us to guess the most likely direction. Yes, I have to agree that it's not fool prove.

In charting, additional tools was added to help us in identify support, resistance, draw trendline for our own alert of possible breakout/breakdown. We may be able to identify the macro trend of a stock whether it is rally distributing, down trending or accumulating. Some charting tool comes with a screening (stock selection) and back testing funtions.

Again me no expert, generally if we had pickup some knowledge and skill is chart analysis, we should be thinking of better it and hopefully when the time is right for our trading style, we could benefit from it.

Don't throw our knowledge and skill away just yet, as long as we're still in the market place.

Red Alert?

G0t kicked out from my office to work under the sun. Upon return to the office in the evening, checked the counter and was “????”. Guessing that it will go down or at least move side way instead it went up by 2cts compare with the day before.

Continue to check star hub price, SHOCKED, up 0.29 cts from it low. How this could be happening, I’m waiting at the bottom and it went up so high. Feel like "xyz" the guy, but come to my senses. It could be a typo error or clicking on the wrong counter. I did it once and pay the price. If this is the case, the price is rather high man.

I fired all my available bullet into the market last week and cash out part of my holding now waiting again.

Generally, guess that the market is still finding it footing to stabilize, for those without holding power it is best to watch then fighting in the battle field and "got killed". Whatever, as one blogger adviced, just leave it behind us and concentrate on our investment and our job. You are right stockhunter. Thanks for the advice.

Read a report by CIMB dated on 25.05.06 this morning on Singapore strategy. In this report it had highlighted that the current correction had caught many unexpectedly although peoples was expecting it coming. Reasons gaven for the fast and furious correction for the pasted two weeks are further rate hikes in the US, high oil price, and high commodity prices, in additional to asia curriencies appreciating against the dollar which have raised worries on export competitivenss. Nevertheless, it when on to recommends their three action plan as follows
1. Search for high yields, flee to safety
2. Look for stocks tht address today's inflation concerns
3. Bottom-pick stocks tht offer share-price catalysts

1. Flee to safety- CIMD recommended four high-yield stocks which in their viewcan offer safety, they are
- SPH - SPH is monopoly whose YTD underperformance and yeilds of 7% making it attractive. It initiated a share buyback of 1.8m earlier the week.
- Jaya - supported by sime Darby's call option to acquire more shares inthe company at S$1.20 per share. Jsys's managment also had a put option at S$1.10, exerciseable at between mid sept 06 and mid Nov-06 and is expecting to announce geneous dividends in sept 06.
- Inter-Rolle - proxy for the rise in airport infrastructure spending. With good results and strong cash flowm it had started to reward shareholders with interim dividends and stock split.
- SMRT - a safety stock, with predictable earnings and high dividend yields.

2. Look for stocks that address today's inflation concerns, CIMB recommendation is
- Keppel Corp and SembCorp Marine - both have benefits from the prevailing positive demand - supply trends in the rig-building space. Rig prices have risen 59% in the pasted two year and is more than offset higher steel prices.
- Keppel Land - is their top pick as the firmly believe that landloads have much leewy to raise prices going forward.
- Fibrechem and Sinomem - were picked among the china stock as they remain keen on companies tht help their customers lower their costs and compete.

3. Bottom-pick stocks that offer shar-price catalysts, CIMB name the following for short-term catalysts, and they preferred stocks that had fallen significantly in the last sell-down as well.
- Longcheer - on outsourcing story with attractive valuations
- Labroy - had corrected more than 13% back to the level when it first nnounced its jack-up contract wins. CIMB is expecting more jackup contact for the next six month.
- Jurong Tech - a big underperformer on the back of uncertainties regarding its Maxtor business. CIMB thinks the stock is attractive agian with current valuations.
- Sekun - have good earning visibility and healty volume increases since Seagate-Maxtor merger.
- Unisteel - offer steady growth prospects and industry-leading ROEs. The recent correction has provided entry opportunities again although valuation used to be onthe lofty side previously.

As usual the analyst of CIMB Kenneth Ng who prepared this report need a disclaim clause and is open to the holding on the stocks he had analyze. Below are the detail

(i) As of 23 May 2006, CIMB-GK and its affiliates have a proprietary position in the following securities in this report:
(a) Singapore Press, Inter-Roller Engr., Jaya Holdings, SMRT Corp, Keppel Corp, Keppel Land, SembMarine, Longcheer, Jurong Tech, Seksun and Unisteel.

(ii) As of 23 May 2006, CIMB-GK and its affiliates do not have a proprietary position in the following securities in this report:
(b) Fibrechem and Labroy Marine.

(iii) As of 24 May 2006, the analyst, Kenneth Ng who prepared this report, does not own and does not have an interest in the securities in the following company or companies covered or recommended in this report.
(c) Singapore Press, Jaya Holdings, SMRT Corp, Keppel Corp, Keppel Land, SembMarine, Longcheer, Jurong Tech and Labroy Marine.

(iv) As of 24 May 2006, the analyst, Kenneth Ng who prepared this report, owns and has an interest in the securities in the following company or companies covered or recommended in this report.
(d) Inter-Roller Engr., Seksun, Unisteel and Fibrechem.

OK, so much about the report, please seek professional advice before taking action. Such candle formation has a bearish implication. Sys Access is being use as an example in my posting and for my learning eperience..

Comfort Delgro is the reverse of Sys Access. In a down trend a bullish rejection formation may form with several candles lower shadow or real body touches the same price level or near the same level. It has a bullish implication.

Above mentioned is not a standard in traditional candlestick analysis, according to the author (Louise Bedford) of the book “The secret of Candlestick Charting”, however she found that the concept is invaluable in her own trading.

It will be too naive to say that the trend will reverse once this formation is spotted, but won’t it be nice to know the possible implication when one spotted it and be alert to a possible change of trend?

Not an expert in TA and would rather confine my understanding to myself. However, injustice is done to the author who highlighted her observation and sharing it in her book with a keen interest in seeing people with the same interest to succeed, trading or investing.

I might not be able to explain properly or had misinterpreted what the author had shared, therefore, for those who are keen in knowing the detail, may consider getting the book for yourself at any major bookshop. (Title and author name highlighted.)

Note: I'm not comission to promote this book, just sharing.
ISBN code: 1-876627-28-X

Stmford Tyres

Resistance at 0.605, support at 0.565. ....sigh, feel so sleeply, what to said....

For the short term, weekly and daily chart sguggesting a positive outlook and that uptrend is intact.

Not vested.

Comfortdelgro -Bullish rejection, Sys Acceess - Bearish rejection

Sys Access is a total opposite of Comfort Delgro. Think it is still anybody guess for now, near term support is at 0.32, resistance at 0.355. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

China sky, a common doji appeared, it may mean an end to the trend or the market is just taking a break.

Candle aside both stochastic and MACD has yet to show +ive signal. The volume is drying up and to me alone, it’s encouraging and a positive indication. Near term support at 0.96 and resistance at 1.08

Oil wonder

Generally if oil price goes up, companies will be hit, including individual.

Of course transportation companies will be likely to be hardest hit, but they have factor in this cost and some transferred it to consumers, may be long ago or as and when the oil price surge.

For tech counter being circle out, (in a forum) it need stronger reasons to sustain it. Across the board statement is questionable and misleading to those who are ill informed.

The highest prediction of oil price by some expert is $100 by end of 2006, others claim that it is the same level as last year, so what a good management will do?

Risk management is one important factor in a company and believes many senior managements is seriously looking at it since last year on; How oil price could affected their bottom line? Of course, contingency plan is up and really to protect their life line.

In money management, central bank took no action to stop sing dollar from strengthening. Me no expert in this area, but believes it help and will be good for our economy, ultimately those importing and export from here will be benefited. See no reasons to find logical explaination as the market always surprise all. So no reason listed then.

Of Course history all know how to said? “Mai kay kiang. Some may “took” me” :))
Others was rather positive and happy about my guessing about this counter going down, because it always the opposite of my guess. I’m delighted too, because they gainning not lossing.

Since my down talking is making wonder for this counter, why not help the supporter to gain more and be happy. Well I'm going do just that, by talking down on this counter in particular.

Chart below display a black spinning top after yesterday closing. Today session confirmed it reversal of trend. This time round there is more reason to worried for and concerned about among traders.
1. When is the correction is setting in
2. The gap is yet to be covered, when the first spinning top appear. (many gaps infact)
3. TA had confirmed the reversal.
4. Today trading session, price movement is rather "bo buay chow". (not logical to say like that leh, whose care)
5. MACD - both lines is softening and turning down.
6. Also the guppy mma "bending" liao (not in the chart)

Nearest support is at 0.89 (just in case some kaisee trader cut lost at 0.900, so place it lower) if this support don’t hold well, given that the sentiment is highly in the standby "chicken running" mode. The next level of suport is likely to be at 0.815. (same reason, scare another kaisee anyhow cut lost) If, price were to retract to this level, well would expecting to see some range trade between 0.815 - 0.84. As to where will it go from here depend loh. If the company is not issue with the "li..cense". Haha... haha...ha... you know lah they built the factory, without the appoaval yet hor? If rejected, how? Well, we move South for party. Of course if approach then we move North without saying lor.

hm...think, I'll just add china sun into my Watch List, it will be a spetacular to see the seesaw tomorrow. 

You who trade with emotion, are risking yourself to much in the market. anyway happy trading. I'll see you at 0.815 or maybe lower loh.. ;-)

"Song, happy bo?" Next week can count big money liao hor? Talk so, very badly on this counter, so am expecting it to cheong like mad tomorrow. No need to thank me lah, I'm just too happy to help.

PCA Tech

Will not be discussing TA or commenting on FA of this counter, you have to form your own view.

Generally, held a positive view on this counter and vested. There are two resistance that it needs to be clear, before testing new high.

As for the news, frankly see no compelling reason for a surge in price, but it's definately a positive news on it on.

CG Tech

It trend downward since touches $0.30 on 9 Feb 06 to a low of $0.24 on 20 Feb 06. You're right on target on your analysis. Yet to read you posting on singtel, although had posted in the shoutbox :D

Personnal though on singtel...

Am bullish on this counter, but the gap down have an bearish implication and in such case would prefer to wait for confirmation signal for a bullish view. In this case, the next trading session, price did not gap up, instead, it was traded at lower high and lower lower, thus continue to wait. Today session, a tweezer bottom formed, believes we share the same view on the tweezer bottom and stochastic and it implications on the counter. :D

Additional indicators;
Price is still trading below MA, and yet to breakout from the trendline I draw or a breakout from it down trend. (not show in the chart)
MACD yet to show a positive signal
MFI is moving upward. (positive)
Market - great buying interest at $2.46- $2.47

with the above consideration it may means that this is an attempt by the bull to take control.

To move in now is sort of risky, however high risk = high reward. to wait for a perfect signal is highly unlikely in the stock market. Therefore ablity to take risk is also an attribute to sucessful trading. :D

IF I buy into this counter next week, I would have a TP between +$0.20 -$0.22. my cut lost will be 2% down from my TP.

Vesting interest. Please note that this is a personnal view and not a recommendation to buy or sell the share of this counter. Any action taken by individual is at their own discretion.

have a profitable day.

Singtel Gap down

the gap down means that the downtrend pattern will continue. Proactive people use their initiatives and resourcefulness to get what they want creatively. They exercise the four human endownments namely, Self awareness, imagination, conscience and independent will.

Consider one difficult situation you are facing now. Well, in stock trading what can be worst then getting struck in stock you brought and it continue to trend downward.

in such as a situation -

What do you see will happen, if you do nothing to the worst performing stock. (self awareness)

What happen if you do what you already know what you need to do?

Let us side step before answering the above, one of the 7 habit: "Begin with the End in mind". Simply put, what do you want to achieve? it means the result you wanted, by acting or not acting.

Needless, to said if you do not act upon, and continue to sit on the worst performing stock you are likely to continue to suffer.

That bring us to another habit - "Put first things first". Guess it may not really fit well here. Anyway, what is the important task that needs our attention? I would be looking at and examine the options available for my worst performing stock. Two choices:

1. Cut loss or sell at a loss - recommended by many experience traders, brokers and may be investors too.
2. "Cutting loss" without disowning the share. Sell at the current high and buying back at a lower price. This strategy highly risky, what happen if there isn't enough volume to support one buy sell order, esapecially true if everybody lost interest in the counter.

So what next, make decision loh..., as mentioned either option is risky, but on second though it may worth the risk.

before I end, one more things "Sharpen the saw".

pondering ...did i answer the first part of the question..

China Sun

Mid term uptrend intact, however daily chart post total different picture. Don't believes my eyes, check the mid-term trend, oh bad! bad! trending down.

It is at it support line now. didn't monitor how it was traded today, so not sure whether there is a strong support at $0.88.

On gut feeling, tomorrow is friday and well, the usual things will take place loh..., so don't think the support will hold on well. On TA view, a black bearish candle appeared with a decending triangle, am not comfortable with it.
